Phelan Art Award in Photography is administered by SF Camerawork for The San Francisco Foundation, and is given in recognition of artistic achievements by California-born artists. This year's winners are Sean McFarland, Arne Svenson, and Amir Zaki. Honorable mentions include Michael Jang, Jana Marcus, and Heidi Zumbrun. Jurors for this award were: Sandra S. Phillips, Senior Curator of Photography, SFMOMA and Catherine Edelman, Director, Catherine Edelman Gallery, Chicago. Photo Credit: Jeremy Castro First Exposures students explore their own personal and cultural histories by using their family pictures, historical and/or found photos, along with photographs and text. With help from their mentors, students will learn techniques to digitize and creatively manipulate their photographs and text to create their final projects.
