AN EVENING WITH XING DANWENJoin us for an evening with Xing Danwen, and hear the artist speak about the work in her series A Personal Diary, on view at Haines Gallery from February 18th through March 27th, 2010. In the late 80s and 90s, Xing was one of the few Chinese artists exploring the boundaries of photography and performance. She documented the performance art and happenings of such artists as Zhang Huan, Xu Bing, Wang Jin, Song Dong, Rong Rong, Ma Liuming, and Fang Lijun. These artists, along with Xing herself, would soon become important figures both within China’s art scene and the art world at large. A Personal Diary extends the importance of their work during this radical underground moment in Beijing and provides a basis for the expansion and growth of the current art movement in China. Come early to see Part Two of our 35th Anniversary Show, The Future Lasts Forever. The show will remain open until 7 pm, at which time the artist's talk will promptly begin. Free to the public. 7 - 9 pm |
